For the Friends of the Cross, the Way of the Cross is not just a devotion—it is a mirror. It reflects the narrow road we walk with Christ, step by step, sorrow by sorrow. Each station is a moment of pause in the drama of redemption, where we find not just Christ’s suffering, but our own—accepted and united with His.
This path began in the streets of Jerusalem, where pilgrims once traced the final footsteps of Jesus to Calvary. But for those who could not go, the Church—especially through the Franciscan tradition—brought the Via Dolorosa home. By the 18th century, 14 stations were placed in churches throughout the world: a way to journey with Jesus, wherever one stood. As we walk the Way of the Cross, we walk not as spectators, but as companions—friends who do not flee on Calvary.
